Problems Singapore Faced.
On January 31st 1942, the entire British Empire army drew back from Malay Peninsula (on Singapore Island). About a week later on February 8th, Japanese forces were on the north side of the island. A week passed by and the Japanese were on the edges of the island which was under "constant air attack". By the 14th of February, Japanese have taken Singapore's pumping stations and reservoirs. The hospitals were overflowing with wounded soldiers and some troops abandoned their units. On the 15th of February, the British commander in Singapore ordered for the troops to stop shooting and bombing and called for a surrender as difficult as it was,. Later that evening he signed the surrender document at the Ford Factory on Bukit Timah Road. The Chinese and Indian population went down due to the air raids.
